Startup Mx: Angel Hub

Angel Hub is a pioneering angel investment network based in Monterrey, Mexico. It focuses on providing early-stage startups with access to capital, expertise, and mentorship, leveraging a network of high-net-worth individuals and experienced investors. Although it started in Monterrey the platform now has investors across Mexico, Colombia, and several countries in Latin America.

The venture emerged from the founders’ realization of a significant gap in the region’s venture capital ecosystem, a lack of funding and structured support for early-stage entrepreneurs.

The Origins of AngelHub

Angel Hub’s roots trace back to an accelerator program called Startup Studio, one of the first in Monterrey and Mexico. The accelerator, founded by Mario Garcia Davila, supported 30 startups, helping them develop ideas and prepare for early funding rounds. However, sustaining the model proved challenging.

When the accelerator model didn’t work out, the team pivoted toward forming an angel network, initially starting with just 12 to 20 angels.

The network officially launched in November 2019, initially hosting in-person events and pitches. However, COVID-19 forced them to adapt quickly to virtual formats, which unexpectedly helped streamline their operations.
