Nido Ventures is an early-stage VC fund investing in founders looking to transform foundational industries in Mexico & United States.
But who started Nido Ventures and how did its investing thesis come about?
Nido Ventures was founded by Ana Carolina Mexia Ponce and Maria Gutierrez Peñaloza, who have been close friends since meeting over a decade ago at Stanford University. After graduation, Maria worked in supply chain roles at Tesla and Apple, while Ana became a software engineer at LinkedIn. As they advanced in their tech careers, they sought greater challenges and were driven by a shared vision to impact the future of innovation in LATAM.
This sparked their journey into angel investing in the LATAM region, which began as a passion project but quickly grew into something more significant.
"Maria and I immediately connected over our belief that the region has untapped talent and ideas. We knew we could make an impact by helping founders get the right support and funding," said Ana.
While pursuing their MBAs at Stanford, they recognized both the immense potential for digital transformation in Mexico and the influx of talent to the region.
Enter Nido Ventures.
"We wanted to create something that would help startups not just raise capital, but find the right partners who understood their growth potential and could offer more than just funding," - Ana Caro Mexia, Founding Partner of Nido Ventures.
