Rally Cap is a venture capital fund that focuses on investing in fintech startups in emerging markets, particularly in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.
Why Fintech & Why Emerging Markets?
Rally Cap was co-founded by Hayden Simmons and Kyane Kassiri. Hayden brings over a decade of experience from his time at fintech companies such as Migo, Novi (Facebook), and Juvo, specializing in business development and partnerships across emerging markets. Kyane, deeply rooted in the African tech scene for the past seven years, first made his mark as an entrepreneur and then transitioned into investing with VC firms across Africa, the US, and Europe. Before founding Suya Ventures—a micro-fund that is now fully deployed—Kyane was an active angel investor throughout MENA and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Simmons saw an opportunity to gather a community of experts—operators and angels—who could collaborate on deal sourcing, due diligence, and founder support.
I spent a few summers abroad assisting migrants working with migrants led to an obsession with understanding how remittances (the backbone of their countries of origin) could benefit from emerging technologies (mobile, cloud, big data, etc.) to drive greater impact. Hayden Simmons, GP of Rally Cap VC, told VC Mexico.
With a vision to connect founders in emerging markets like Latam, Africa, and Asia with operators in the US, Simmons and Kyane launched Rally Cap to address cross-border financial service gaps and offer founders the infrastructure they need to scale.
According to Simmons, the founding idea behind Rally Cap stemmed from his understanding of these underserved markets:
We (Kyane and I) realized that traditional venture capital models didn’t fit the unique challenges of these regions. We needed to build something adaptable, grounded in local needs, but with global resources and expertise.
